Slow is not a word that our society can accepts. We want to find information, now. Have food ready, now. Change a wrong, now. Build a house, now. We’ve heard it said that we are a microwave society. Put it in and get it done. All at the cost of what? Do we know the cost of quick? Is there any benefit to slow?

We’ve been on a slow trek. What seems slow. Raj has a great burden to see pastors trained, established in their souls, the very core of their being, to know their priorities as a pastor. To stand on their calling from God and shepherd their sheep Biblically. But where do we start? With so many in need how do we focus on where to minister? So we wait. We wait for God to open the doors, to bring the contacts, to stir us in a direction.

The benefit, a reward as we wait. We literally have to pray every day to seek an answer to the question, “where are we to focus our ministry?” We strive to quiet our hearts before Him like a weaned babe. Psalm 131:2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within meIt doesn’t always happen perfectly. It is at times a struggle but the great peace that comes when we’re quieted and the idea that we are completely dependent on the Lord with no struggle is satisfying.

Waiting is not new to Scripture and it brought great reward. Noah waited in Genesis 8 for the waters to recede. David waited for his enemies to be conquered and to become King. He wrote about it throughout the Psalms. Hebrews 11, the great faith chapter tells of many who waited… These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth….  Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:13 &15What’s in the word slow, great reward in the spiritual sense. Slow is nice you know!
